Captain America: Civil War director Anthony Russo spoke about his faith in Jon Watts upcoming movie Spider-Man: Homecoming (SMH). The upcoming movie will be the first solo Spider-Man movie to take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe – if Russo is to be believed SMH could be the best Spider-Man movie yet – relating excerpt can be read below.

“[Joe and I] love [Jon Watts], we think he’s an incredibly talented filmmaker, super bright guy. He’s crazy talented, the script is amazing and we have really high expectations for the movie. I think the tone and the direction that he’s heading in that movie are fantastic. I think it has the potential to be the best Super-Man yet, and I know that’s saying a lot because perhaps my favourite [favorite] comic book movie of all time is Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 [SM2]. ”

A number of fans hold SP2 as their favourite of the Spider-Man movies; so if Russo believes SMH can topple that – fans will be left very happy after that. Russo went on to speak about how other Marvel films, like Civil War, will influence the upcoming movie – relating excerpt can be read below.

“From a process standpoint, it’s like it is with all other Marvel directors. Everybody runs into each other in the hallways, we’re passing off story information between each other. I don’t necessarily know how much it influenced me yet because we’re not involved in it on a day-to-day project, a process, and we’ve seen as much as everybody else has seen, meaning if you were at Comic-Con and you saw the Comic Con trailer, that’s what we’ve seen of it.”

Russo is really similar to what we’ve been hearing from all the Marvel directors as well as the Netflix show runners. It seems Marvel does a really good job of keeping everyone on the same page – “in regards to each others work.”
