WTF! There’s a dark theory going around that Danny & Sandy were actually dead when they sang all those recognisable songs in Grease…

Well, either dead or dying, the theory goes.

Summer Nights – Sandy sings about Danny saving her from drowning on the beach – no apparently he didn’t manage to save her. Here’s another example…

Sandra Lee – the song ends with the line ‘Goodbye to Sandra Dee’ which these Reddit users believe is a sign that she’s dying.

We can’t forget about the whole thing with the end with everything tying up so perfectly:

“Everything that happens in the last scene is just a little TOO perfect. Danny and Sandy are back together despite everything, Rizzo SUDDENLY isn’t pregnant And Kenickie suddenly decides that he actually loves her, the geeky kid gets onto the sports team, Everything is suddenly ok, just the way that sweet, innocent Sandy would have wanted it to be. In the last shot of the movie, she flies up to heaven with her dream boyfriend in her magic flying car.” – reddit user Randomd0g

We can’t forget that whole thing with the flying car at the end – ascending to heaven maybe? Who knows!

A fair few Reddit users were quick to squash the theory – naturally. Some users branded it ‘boring’ and ‘impossibly implausible’. An unnamed user (deleted account) wrote the following:

“Seriously, I’m so tired of “all in their head” theories, they are so lazy and can literally be applied to anything. I love r/fantheories, but quality theories are very few and far between.”

User Superjam83 wrote: “Explain Grease 2” – User BrotherSeamus replied: “Some people stay in a coma for a very long time.”

“Another Reddit user had a different, although similar, theory – How about it’s Danny in the process of dying, drowning as he attempts to save Sandy. As he slips away he imagines what it would have been like to have got to know this drowning beauty. He invents her name Sandy because they are dying by a beach, and he imagines their whirlwind romance which also sees him building his dream car, beating his rival, and graduating high school.”

To be honest, this theory baffles the shit out of us!
